P&C - Fund Raising
Background Information
The Parents and Citizens Association is the main body for raising funds to assist the school. As a fundraising association, they are exempt from tax. It is appropriate that fundraising is co-ordinated by the P & C for that reason. Some extra fundraising is undertaken by the school each year to assist with funding various events. Fundraising must be authorised by the finance committee and parents notified in the contributions and charges report.
Reasons for fundraising.
1. P&C Fundraising for air conditioning of new teaching blocks.
The main P & C Fundraising for the school will be targeted at raising funds toward Air Conditioners for the new teaching blocks. Thanks to the generosity of the whole school community and hardwork by the P & C Committee, over $30,000 has been raised toward this end.
2. Fundraising for Charity Groups
Schools are permitted to collect funds for charity groups. From time to time there will be requests to fundraise for these groups. The Finance Committee have approved up to 5 fundraising events for charity groups. The Student Council will be responsible for requesting and co-ordinating this fundraising. Some examples may include undraising for charitable organizations, such as Daffodil Day, Red Nose day, Cancer appeals..
Over the year it may be necessary, due to critical world events to fundraise emergency funding for humanitarian reasons. Giving to those less fortunate fosters a climate of compassion and sharing in the school. Incidents such as Bush fire Appeals, Tsunami Appeals, Famine etc. Students should have the right to participate in this type of fundraising activity as necessary.
3. Extra fundraising for school events
Assistance with funds for camp, graduation, music (choir) and other school events could take the form of sausage sizzles, lapathons, free dress days, discos, etc and must be authorised by the finance committee.
4. Fundraising for school requirements
From time to time permission will be sought to raise extra funds to assist with financial requirements of whole school initiatives. This fundraising option may occur after consultation with the School Plan and school budget for the relevant year.
Participation in these activities is entirely voluntary.
